Hamster Stories (1991)
We bought hamsters for the boys. Adam always wanted a puppy. This was close enough to a puppy for him, so he named his hamster "Puppy". Puppy did not live long. We would go to Adam's room to find him "juggling" the hamster. He dropped the hamster on several occasions, but never killed him.
He took the hamster out to play on my Ford Ranger one day. The hamster decided he had a better chance of living hiding on the truck frame than hanging around with Adam. We tried to catch the hamster without success. Eventually, I had to use the truck to go to school and we suspect that Puppy went to "live with Jesus" somewhere on the way to school.
Kris's hamster fell to neglect. His cage was never cleaned (Kris needed to learn some responsibility). The odor was bad enough that Terri set the cage out on the patio. That evening a storm came up and the cage filled with water (since it was adjacent to a gutter down spout). The hamster was struggling to learn the breast stroke.
One of the guys at work agreed to take Kris's hamster. A week passed before the boys realized that the hamster was gone. They asked about the hamster, but my friend said the hamster was about 2' down a 4' boa constrictor.
