Elric My sophomore year at Deer Park High School (1995) I started listening to a lot of Zeppelin. The simple yet dominant drum beat in "The Ocean" is what caught my attention the most. I drummed on my desk until I thought I needed to be a drummer. Rather than learn to play, I figured the first thing I should do is round up a band. Elric, an old friend of mine from La Porte, had been playing guitar for about a year. House, better known in those days as Matt, decided to follow in his dad's steps and learn bass.

We'd get together about every other weekend to practice. After a while we could almost play "The Ocean." We sucked bad. We tried to bring in other guitarists but they all sucked. We started arguing over a name for the band and never reached a conclusion. Eventually, we'd just talk (or argue) through all of our practices. I got bored and started screwing around on Elric's guitar.

Early 1996, we decided it was pointless to continue having practices until we knew how to play. Bored with the drums, I bought myself a cheap pawnshop guitar. It was red so I wrapped it in masking and electrical tape to look like Eddie's. I gradually learned to play in my spare time. After about 6 months of delivering pizzas I had 6 guitars: My Eddie guitar, a black Epiphone Special, a black and white Ibanez RX, a cheap no-name acoustic, an acoustic Epiphone 12-string, and an Ibanez EX bass. Delivering pizza pays well.

House In the Fall of 1998 House and I moved up to the University of Texas at Dallas. By this time we were skilled enough to sound decent jamming together. We worked on some Metallica covers and some original material. I was screwing around with recording some acoustic songs with my computer's sound card in Spring 1999. It didn't sound too bad. I threw together 9 original songs that I had been working on and 5 covers. It came together as Instrumentals, the first 3 Minute Difference album. After that I started to get more serious about recording. House and I recruited a drummer named Funk. He was decent but we couldn't stand him after 5 minutes. Also, I realized that House wasn't all that serious about the band, so I decided not to include him when recording albums. I can only assume that he is no longer in the band, seeing as how I can't remember the last time he picked up his bass.
